This and That

Here is a link to our Flickr site for all the pictures so far.

Elections are coming up in the Club next month. Members can only be elected to the same position for two years in a row, so you will see some new faces soon! (Or a familiar face at least in a new office!)

We have 110 "likes" on our Facebook page. That's great since we only have 48 members!

There is only one more member's workshop this year. It is "chenilling." This workshop will be held in November. After that we have the Christmas party in December to end the year.

Welcome to 2015!

Our newest Show and Tell photos have been uploaded to our Flickr site, Check out some of the beautiful creations by our members! Here is a perfect example: this quilt consisted of 900 squares used to make the twister!!

We have some changes to start off the year. Our newest board members are Pam Clum, Kelly Sanning, and CIndy Swardenski. The officers for 2015 are Lewcrese Shields, Linda Hardy, and Deb Cline as returning President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Linda McGlothin will now be serving as Vice-President. We have new chairmen selected for the quilt show and new program committee workers. As usual, this is a transition period for the Club, but changes tend to go smoothly. We have several new members. Let's remember to make them feel welcomed.

I hope to have the 2015 meeting and workshop schedule uploaded soon. That makes the year's schedule so much easier to follow! We are having another Round Robin this year. Contact Kathy Street if you have questions or wish to participate. Don't forget that we will not have a workshop in March. Instead, we will have our National Quilt Day event st the Greenville Library. Stay warm!

What project do you have going?

Quilt show and October 2014 news

The 33rd annual Harvest of Quilts was quite successful last weekend. We had a nice turnout and a lot of lovely quilts displayed. Many thanks to our vendors and our members for their hard work. Pictures from the show are being added to our Flickr account. A link will be posted as soon as possible. Reminder to all members: Tuesday is our monthly meeting. It will be a fun night and is to be a break from all the time and effort of the show. Please bring 5 5-inch squares for a game. Let's have a good night of fun and fellowship for our shared love of quilting!

Quilt Show and updates

The Club Quilt Show is coming up the weekend of October 10-11th. It will be open on Friday from 9 AM - 6 PM and Saturday from 9 AM - 5 PM. We are hoping for a fabulous turnout this year so come join us to see some outstanding quilts, shop our wonderful vendors and Country Store, and buy a chance on a raffle ticket or two! What is your favorite part of the Show?

Speaking of the Show, members are reminded to sign up for working the Country Store and/or the Admissions table. Additional information on when to enter quilts in the Show will be posted soon.

We are also re-applying for non-profit status with the IRS. Our treasurer, Linda Hardy, has worked hard on gathering the information needed for all the required documentation. Hopefully, we will not have any further status lapses.

Raffle quilt

Just a short note to show off this year's raffle quilt. Beautiful, isn't it? It is queen-size!

Almost June!

It has been busy at TSQC so far this year. Every month, when the Club is presenting programs, the Club alternates between teaching a border pattern or demonstrating a new block for the mystery Christmas quilt.
We have gained several new members this year. Although a few ladies dropped out of the Club, we now have 43 members.
On March 15th, National Quilt Day, the Club set up displays and "work" areas for members at the Greenville Public Library. During this time, the members met with the public and answered questions. It was a successful event!
The Club has also been very busy updating our Rules, By-Laws, calling chain, membership list, and Quilt Show Chairwomen definitions/responsibilities. Next month, we are scheduled to vote on accepting these updates or not.
Our April members' workshop was a blended quilt. Very pretty and not too difficult. Our next workshop is Serendipity. It is a no waste workshop since the leftover fabric can be used to make a second quilt!

Club meeting tomorrow at 7:00. Remember to bring your Round Robin! Toni Heggie wants everyone to know: If you have a Spring 2014 edition of Quilter’s World magazine, bring it to the meeting.  The author of one of the patterns will be speaking at the meeting and will autograph your magazine. Sounds great! Sorry for the delay in new pictures - I hope to get them posted soon!

January Update

Our first meeting of 2014 is tomorrow night, Jan. 21, at 7:00 P.M. at the Brethren's Home. If you are participating in the Round Robin, make sure to bring your 18" center block!

The members' monthly workshop was a huge hit! Everyone who attended had a great time making the  quilted, collapsible basket. Some members finished before 3:00, the rest of us needed more time! I'll have photos posted on the Flickr site as soon as possible - I am encountering technical difficulty with the uploader! Here are a couple photos from the workshop to get you started!

Also, here is a message from our President:

As President of Towne Squares, I am so excited for the 2013 quilt show. The quilt show is going to be a wonderful show. Getting many exhibitors that have never shown a quilt. Elvira, the pioneer lady is traveling to Ohio to visit our show. Looks like we are going to have pleasant weather for traveling. The show has many vendors to purchase about all you need to begin or keep quilting. Quilting machines to try to quilt. Buy chances on a beautiful raffle quilt or attend the auction on Saturday at 2pm to bid on many quilt items including our charity quilt. Our food vendor has wonderful meals and their specialty is lemon ice cream. Have any questions please send me private message or ask below and I'll answer. See you at the show. When you listen to TWGR our local radio station I'll be sharing about the show on Friday Oct 11th, at 10:45 am.

Raffle quilt

Harvest of Quilts is rapidly approaching. The show will be on Friday and Saturday, October 11-12 at the Darke County Fairgrounds. If you wish to enter your quilt, quilts will be accepted at the Fairgrounds on Wednesday, October 9th from 4-7 PM and on Thursday, October 10th from 9-11. In case you haven't seen it, here is the gorgeous, queen-size raffle quilt! One lucky raffle ticket holder will win this! Raffle tickets may still be purchased from Club members. Additionally, raffle tickets can be purchased at Greenville's next "First Fridays" event on October 4th in front of Minuteman Press.
Club news: We had a wonderful meeting on September 17th. There were lots of reminders and final decisions made on Quilt-show related topics. Linda gave a short presentation on preparing ties for Saturday's class, "All Tied Up." Club members decided that the next meeting, just a few days after the show, will be less formal and include a carry-in and fabric "swap" opportunity. So...Club members, for the October 15th meeting, please bring a dish AND THE RECIPE to share. Also bring several 2.5" x WOF strips. The Club will provide plates and forks for the food. (If your dish needs a bowl and/or spoon, please bring those, too!) This is not a full dinner, so finger foods are preferred. The carry-in and fabric "swap" are related. If someone wants the recipe to your dish, they must "pay" you for it with a 2.5" x WOF strip! This will be a fun way to add variety to your fabric stash!

Reminder to Club members: turn in your raffle ticket money as soon as possible.

Another successful workshop!

Our July 27th Wing Clipper workshop was wonderful, and we were amazed by the clever way we were taught to sew flying geese.  The Wing Clipper ruler to trim the geese into perfection was spectacular, and this ruler is a keeper.  A good time was had by all, and a few lucky participants won door prizes of $5 KFC gift certificates so they can buy their own chicken wings!  [Clever, those program committee ladies, eh?]  See our Facebook page for lots of pix....
